This song is about what happens when the symbols, structures and certainties we rely on suddenly collapse.
Despite the title, the song is not about a literal event. The Pope becomes a symbol of authority, order and something that is supposed to feel untouchable. When that disappears, fear spreads quickly and people are forced to question what they believed was stable.
Musically, Someone Killed the Pope pushes this new chapter even further, bringing together heavy guitars, electronics, orchestral layers and a direct, powerful chorus.
